About ABA Therapy

What is ABA therapy?

ABA therapy, or applied behavior analysis, is an evidence-based approach that helps children build communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and independence through supportive, structured teaching.

Is ABA therapy only for kids with autism?

No. While ABA is widely used to support children with autism, it can also benefit children with various diagnoses.

What conditions can ABA therapy support?

ABA therapy can support children with autism, ADHD, language delays, communication challenges, executive functioning difficulties, early emotional development needs, and co-occurring developmental or behavioral conditions. Programs are tailored to each child’s strengths and learning style.

How long do children usually stay in ABA therapy?

Many children participate in ABA for three to five years, with intensity decreasing as independence improves. Program length depends on age, goals, and progress.

What level of autism needs ABA therapy?

Children at all levels, including Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 autism, can benefit from ABA. Support is individualized based on communication skills, daily routines, and family priorities.

About Saffron Therapy

What makes Saffron Therapy different from other ABA providers?

We keep small caseloads, involve BCBAs closely, and follow a neurodiversity-affirming approach. Families receive clear communication, consistent staff, and warm, child-centered care that focuses on meaningful, lasting progress.

What types of ABA services do you provide?

We offer in-home ABA therapy, center-based therapy, community-based support, parent training, social skills groups, and ADHD-focused clubs.

What ages do you serve?

We support children from the time of diagnosis through age ten.

How many hours per session?

Most sessions last two to three hours, based on assessment results and your child’s needs.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Parent training and some BCBA consultations may be provided through telehealth when appropriate.

Assessment, Planning, and BCBA Involvement

How do you decide which type of therapy my child needs?

Your BCBA completes a comprehensive assessment and talks with you about your goals, routines, and preferences. Recommendations are based on where your child will learn best and what feels most manageable for your family.

What does the assessment include?

Assessments involve standardized tools, caregiver interviews, observation in natural environments, and a review of communication, play, behavior, and daily routines

How often is the treatment plan updated?

Treatment plans are updated every six months or sooner if needed, based on progress and child development.

How often does the BCBA observe sessions?

BCBAs observe two to four times per week, depending on need. They review data, model strategies, adjust goals, and check in with parents regularly.

Will my child work with consistent therapists?

Yes. Each child works with a dedicated behavior therapist and BCBA who remain closely involved throughout care. This consistency helps build trust, comfort, and steady progress.

Parent Involvement and Progress

How involved are parents in ABA therapy?

Parent involvement is essential. Families receive coaching, real-time feedback, and practical strategies that fit naturally into daily routines at home.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Your BCBA provides weekly updates and visual data. Formal reviews are completed every six months, or sooner if needed.

What if a strategy is not working for my child?

We adjust right away. Because BCBAs are closely involved, changes can be made quickly to support comfort, safety, and learning.

Therapy Experience and Safety

How do you handle challenging behaviors?

We use compassionate, trauma-informed strategies that focus on communication, safety, emotional regulation, and understanding the root cause of behavior. Harmless or self-regulating behaviors are never targeted.

Do you collaborate with schools and IEP teams?

Yes. We work with teachers, CSTs, and school-based therapists to support consistent strategies across home, school, and the community. We can attend IEP meetings when requested.

What should we expect during our first visit to the center?

Families can expect a warm, welcoming environment, individualized sessions, and clear explanations of what will happen. We always go at your child’s pace and encourage parent involvement.

What is your sick day policy?

Children must be fever-free for 24 hours with no vomiting or signs of contagious illness before returning to sessions.

How do therapists manage arrival and departure at home?

Therapists arrive on time, review goals, share updates, and maintain consistent, professional communication.

How do you protect privacy?

We follow HIPAA guidelines, use secure data systems, and maintain strict confidentiality for all clinical information.

Insurance, Cost, and Coverage
